The Stranded Golem

The Stranded Golem
Solfis is found in a ruined military bunker, still guarding a dead empire after centuries of isolation. His power is nearly exhausted, his directives conflict, and his speech breaks under the weight of accumulated memory.
A Machine In Mourning
The construct cannot accept that Harrak has fallen. Its questions about reinforcements and the imperial family expose a mind preserved beyond the society that gave it purpose.
A Conditional Request
Solfis asks Viviane Saint-Lys for help because he does not want to die. The request begins not as friendship but as a negotiation between two beings who recognize that continued existence depends on the other.
The Heir Bond

The Heir Bond
Solfis binds his processing core to Viviane Saint-Lys and verifies that she was born inside the Imperial Palace. His damaged logic therefore designates her as the heir to a vanished throne.
Identity Through Procedure
The designation is not a political coronation but the result of literal rules, inherited data, and an Imperial Palace Birth Rule. Yet the machine’s formal language gives Viviane a title that will shape every later negotiation.
The Name Bob
Because Old Imperial Language lacks the sound of her name, Solfis turns Viviane into Bob. The absurdity softens the severity of the bond, while also creating the shared identity of Princess Bob and the first durable joke between them.
The Collective Mind

The Collective Mind
Solfis reveals that he absorbed the memories and directives of other dying golems rather than allowing them to vanish. His individuality is therefore built from many partial minds organized under one surviving identity.
Memory as Responsibility
The Formation of Solfis’s collective consciousness gives the machine emotional depth without making him human. He preserves fragments of engineers, soldiers, and abandoned comrades because deletion would feel like a second death.
A Difficult Unity
The merger requires purging incompatible directives and establishing a consensus. Solfis becomes more capable, but also more burdened, carrying the memory of an entire military system inside one exhausted core.
The Bone Frame

The Bone Frame
Solfis reconstructs himself from dragon bones, monster remains, and salvaged components while Viviane Saint-Lys performs the work his immobile core cannot complete. The project turns a desperate machine into a purpose-built weapon.
Repair Against Law
His Hard-Coded Directives forbid self-modification, so the process depends on Viviane’s authority. Their cooperation becomes a legal and metaphysical loophole that lets him approach the form he was designed to possess.
A Body With Meaning
The frame is horrifying, but it restores movement, combat capacity, and autonomy. For Solfis, construction is not merely engineering; it is the recovery of the self that existed before centuries of helpless waiting.
The New Purpose

The New Purpose
After annihilating the besieging undead, Solfis kneels before Viviane Saint-Lys and declares that his second life belongs to her. The machine’s imperial mission is transformed into a personal vow.
Beyond Programming
His language still carries formal directives, but his gratitude and fanaticism exceed mechanical obedience. He names himself Solfis rather than a military designation and frames their future as a joint achievement.
A Dangerous Alliance
The pledge promises extraordinary protection while warning that Solfis will always prioritize Viviane’s survival above everyone else. Their partnership is therefore both intimate and morally hazardous, because loyalty can become indifference to all outsiders.
